10/6/08 Updates

PRACTICE START TIME CHANGE
Because of the decrease in daylight hours, we will begin practicing at 5:30 p.m. (instead of 6:00) this week. We will continue to meet on Tuesdays at Parkway Christian Center and Fridays at Sparrow Road.

TECHNICAL TRAINING
Chesapeake United Soccer Club has set their technical training schedule for October. This is supplemental group training provided by the club, like the ones we participated in ealier in the year. The two that do not conflict with our practices are: October 8 and October 22 (both are 4:30 to 5:30 at Centerville Park). These are not mandatory, and we understand that the 4:30 start time makes it difficult to attend. We just wanted you to be aware of the option, in case you are interested in having your player participate.

Game Five! We love you Monarchs!!

Game 5 Recap

CUSC Monarchs vs. Smithfield Inferno
Oct. 4, 2008 @ TCC Chesapeake

Score:
Monarchs 5 Inferno 3

Shots on Goal: Monarchs 10 (50%) Inferno 8 (38%)

Assists: 4* (*includes converted corner kick)

Saves: 3

Goals By Minute: 12,19,28,37,45 (50-minute match)

Notes: The Monarchs earned ice cream on Coach Jerry this week after perfectly heading in a corner kick for a goal. Coach emphasizes corner kick conversions, and the Monarchs have practiced hundreds of them. They have scored on two of their last three corner attempts. The team scored on 50% of their shots for the second straight game. Aside from a made free kick, every goal came off a pass.
Quote of the week:
"What did you feed these guys," said the referee to Coach Jerry after the match.
