2010 Virginia Holiday Shootout

Monarchs allow ony 2 goals in four games while outscoring their opponents by 17 for the weekend. The Monarchs were particularly impressive in Sunday's first game, which matched the division's two unbeaten teams, and was essentially for the tournament championship in the round-robin format. After falling behind 0-1 early, the Monarchs scored goals in the 19th and 41st minutes, both off of assists, and relied on strong defense, including five saves to seal the victory. With the four wins, the Monarchs moved their unbeaten streak to 14 straignt matches (13 wins and 1 tie).

Monarchs outshoot their opponent 42 - o, converted a corner kick for a goal and notched 4 assists on 10 goals. It was their first match without allowing a shot on goal. For the season, the Monarchs have scored 49 goals and given up only 9 in seven games. The victory secured a first place league finish with one game remaining.
